This is a great movie in every aspect. It's got great comedy writing... great acting, great direction... It's an absolute brilliant movie HOWEVER, the last 30 or so minutes it falls off the rails.. The problem with this movie is that it is just too long and the script just had to keep putting together a story that was already told! This movie just didn't need anymore. That's too bad because it's as if there were two different writers.

The movie is entertaining enough to want to figure what’s gonna happen next however it disappoints and falls flat on its face. The movie needs more of an edge… it’s full of stolen western movie scripts where a couple of “brave” men rally some shop keepers against the powerful rancher and a corrupt Sheriff… blah blah…it’s just so beta male. There’s a scene in the movie where Costner & Duvall I’ve ridden together for nine years and yet don’t know each other’s background…The script tries too hard and never comes close to any of the great movies classics like Hang’em high, The Lawman, True Grit, or the magnificent seven etc.. it’s more like a TV series quality.

This is such a great movie!!! It’s emotional, it’s funny, it’s revealing about how life is unpredictable, and how painful our lives can be… and yet it’s the love of brothers who are forged together in battle where we can find strength to go on.

This is one of the most trite ridiculous movie and of course predictably directed through the lens of a “victim” mindset.. it’s actually a comedy and pretty damn funny!
