Ballad of Dreams is unlike any book I’ve ever read, it is a novel with music as the cover states. A musical turned novel, the story of Audrey and her incredibly full life is so empowering and inspiring. The pages are held together by the themes of female empowerment, strong female friendship, love, family, and of course, music. Not only did Allyson Hernandez craft a story that made me smile and cry throughout, she crafted a new genre of writing. I can already see future authors utilizing this format to intertwine storytelling with music. I am extremely proud to call Allyson a role model of mine as well as happy and proud to be one of the OG Dreamers that helped fund the novel, audiobook, and soundtrack for Ballad of Dreams. This book is an amazing read and makes for a great gift to any woman, close friend, or family member — I highly recommend it!
