I became so absorbed in the characters in this series that in the last season I purposely tried to limit my viewing of the final shows. The let down when it was finished was most likely akin to a drug addict coming off their drug of choice. I would like to think (outside of the dramatic violence, bombings and other sensationalized made for movie moments), that the people of Harlan county and Appalachia were given perspective with the the history of the depressing economy, coal and other natural resource extraction that was fleetingly depicted. The criminal element was hardcore, and you got the feeling that the real people in this region are of a tough identity, close knit (unless God, Guns, Money and Drugs), take them on a course of retribution. At any rate, I’ve not found another series since Justified to capture my attention and could have probably watched another season or two.
