I watched the film in Zurich, here entitled The Singing Club. We were amongst an audience of bilingual and multilingual ladies and a few men. We all found it amusing, moving and entertaining. And the acting and singing were heartwarming. A very pleasant experience. And not too long!

Very good drama series with great acting from all the main characters. Set in the Cold War and focussing on two well-to-do families, who get drawn into a mystery involving electronic locators and spying. Keeley Hawes was especially brilliant and charismatic. Tony Stephens was inscrutable, and the other family members were finely drawn.

Saw it today in Zurich. I thought it was a wonderful film with a fascinating setting on the Dorset coast in Victorian times, great acting by the two leading actresses and a story that didn't leave you disappointed. I hope Kate Winslet and Sorcha Ronan get lots of credits for their sustained and moving performances.

I enjoyed the whole series having never read the book. It was very painful in parts, such as when Fantine had to sacrifice her front teeth. Olivia Coleman in an evil role was interesting. Dominic West held it all together very well as Jean Valjean and showed mercy to Javert at the end. However I was disappointed with the last episode which was so dark I could hardly make out the action.
