Just no - without the game context, this is absolutely not a good film. The lack of consistency in character motivation makes it hard to care about anyone.

A solid, age appropriate, feel good film : I thoroughly enjoyed We Grown Now, a film centered on elementary-aged boys that manages to keep you engaged throughout without the characters ever feeling insufferable or losing the audience’s attention. It’s a rare find: a story about young kids that offers something for adults as well, making it a perfect watch for families. The care and thoughtfulness in the cinematography are evident, enhancing the storytelling in subtle but effective ways. And that scene where one little boy hypes his friend up to talk to the lady on the train—priceless little boy shit lol.

Civil War misses the mark by a long shot. The reasons behind the war are fuzzy, as if it doesn't center the whole movie around it, and half the characters are pointless. Those that do matter don't grow much, and their motivations are paper-thin. I knew little to nothing about war photographers and it seems the movie also did not know much about them. The movie also ignores common sense questions the audience will inevitably, like why the President would just chill in their office during a civil war among many pointless scenes. The music tries to amp up the tension, but it can't save this storyline at all. If someone gives it more than two stars, they're kidding themselves. I am actually baffled at the higher ratings...
