An old fashioned story - true. And the characters were for the most part easy to understand - perhaps even a bit one dimensional. However, it is beautifully shot and edited…. And best of all, the acting is remarkably good - especially considering the limits for each character in the adaptation. The star for me - other than Tom Hanks who is nothing short of perfect in the role - with moments of great subtlety with eye rolls or looking suspect at someone’s well-intended remark… was Mariana Trevino in the character of Marisol. She was funny, charming, spontaneous and the emotion of the story is delivered by her and through her brilliant portrayal of her character. I’ve never seen her before but she may be my newest favorite actor. She really is stunningly engaging in her role. Thank you folks for getting this story to the screen. Well done: all!
