I am a sucker for musicals... I can, and will, sing every part to ANY Rocky Horror song. Same goes to Rent... Wicked... Phantom of the Opera... Tanz der Vampire... Moulion Rouge... ohhhh you get the point. So I was curious because while I'm not a fan of Camilla's music * (nothing against her, shes such a cute quicky gal with quite a set I'd pipes... I just do not like pop), I was very interested in catching her movie because she really can belt out a note! I... was really unimpressed. It's quirky, it really is, but definitely was not my cup of chai. The music was a bummer to me, because this electric pop mess that is everywhere now'a'days really made it stale. I wasn't able to follow the time it was set in? Mehhhh. Nope. I *will* say, the dresses during the ball scene were absolutely phenomenal! The Indian style dress and actress looked so beautiful, everyone during that scene did. Only downside I have about the ball is that Camila's dress was so gorgeous, I'm jealous I'll never wear it! Oh... and I'll admit, the mice were super cute.

I'm still sitting here trying to wonder and figure out, did I watch a different movie from the reviewers who have 5 stars who busted their guts laughing? Did I rent another version? At best the movie got a couple of smiles and a snort or two, but wow... wow. Wow. Before someone reads and says, 'Oh what a sourpuss! She's probably never seen the show or, or, or...' No, I remember watching season 1 my Senior year of HS (class of 2012) with my dad and it drove my mom nuts—we were dying of laughter and heck, we still crack up over the show together. Hell I almost gave this review 2 stars solely on the fact that I abso-freakin-lutely looooove Salvatore "Ja'Crispy" Vulcano but... it just... it didn't work for me. The plot never caught my attention and the pranks just... didn't do anything for me. I love the show and S1-4 slay me, but the movie didn't impress.

I'll be fair and give a two, only because I must admit that I'll give a snort or two per episode. There are some decent jokes but honesty, had it not been for my boyfriend insisting on a Hulu-binge, I never would have bothered to watch. Maybe I'm just not a fan of the "Gen Z humor" that this show seems to play heavy on. Dunno. All I know is that once he runs through the rest of Season 1 on Hulu I have no desire to keep up with it. I'd much rather rewatch King of the Hill or American Dad.

I wanted to like this, I tried to muster up at least 3 stars... but I can't help but give 1 star. It wasn't the "traditional" Hansel&Gretel so no, no breadcrumbs, but I felt the story changes were interesting for the idea they had for the movie. Even the story change of making the witch almost motherly and a mentor for Gretel I was good with... so no, it wasn't the 'additions' and story-alters that got me. It was mainly the ideas started that never went anywhere that left me thinking '... what...'. They'd introduce an idea and then let it fade away with little to no explanation. I mean, the zombie? The red light? I even felt the witches' death was rushed. It was an interesting build up but the moment itself... I wasn't feeling it. Like I said, I tried to like this more. I thought the cast was fitting and it seemed like they had an interesting idea in mind but it wasn't carried out in full. Ah, and personally I'm getting tired of the 'woke' messages and wish we could have a movie and move past making a 'politically correct' point, but maybe that's just me and another good chunk as to why this earned a 1. But hey, to each his own. It's a 1 for me, maybe a 4 or a 5 for the next person. I just tend to like movies that tie in their threads rather than make an all together loose piece with strands still dangling in the wind.
