The most disappointing book of the series so far (I haven’t read the following books yet but my hopes are not very high). The characters are flat, the already well rounded characters introduced in previous books behave in ways that don’t match their personality well or feel too self-cliché. The main character is barely visible throughout and the story is not as compelling and exciting as the previous books. There are some good ideas in there but the execution is very poor and you lose more than you win by reading it. The aftertaste is bitter and none of the original excitement and intrigue are really present. I had higher hopes for this book because the 4th instalment by the same author was not bad and it offered some potential, but that potential just flopped like a punctured bouncy castle in an empty birthday party. It is anticlimactic, predictable in its plot twist and overall depressing and not really worth the pain.
