Brilliantly acted. I must admit to being totally surprised by some of the reviews on here. Those saying that it doesn't do the horrific true story of the laundrette justice, should remember that it is also fulfilling the role as a drama & at least it is bringing to the attention of those unaware, some of the terrible events in modern history.
I can't stomach most TV dramas, as the acting is so unconvincing to me, but this manages to flit between the ultra convincing subtlety & gothic quirk beautifully.
Rarely is gothic done well & the stylised mist blowing across the road may not be to everyone's liking, but for us the visual portrayal of a woman dealing with her demons is mesmerising.
For those who have said that they don't know what the heck is going on, perhaps they needed to give it more than one episode, or if they are looking for an easy ride, with the plot handed to them on a plate, then they need to look elsewhere! We are only two episodes in & hooked.
