Well, the really critical reviews are right. One a certain level I get why someone might react negatively: it's a mess, boring, etc. But also, these are raw demos. It's not supposed to be a record. I think what's interesting is to imagine if it had become a record. What directions would it have gone?
So while in and of itself it's not amazing there are interesting things about it. And there's no doubt that Lauryn Hill is a fascinating and extremely talented person.
Also, possibly insane, which is beginning to surface here with the quasi-religious persecution complex thing. But that's even sort of interesting.
