First and foremost, if you're reading these reviews to decide whether or not to buy TLoU2, just buy it. Play through it and form your opinion then. People have been judging this game extremely unfairly, when in reality it's another masterpiece from Naughty Dog.
The game play is smooth, and the fight sequences are definitely a huge step up from TLoU1. The entire game feels like you're playing through a movie, which personally I love. The scenery is amazing, and yet again you can tell that the creators took their time on even the smallest details that most people wouldn't pay attention to.
As for the ending, I'll try to be vague so I don't give too much away. The ending was raw and what many may consider to be lacking the cliche "happy ending" where everything works out perfectly for the protagonists. That isn't the case, and this was the intention. Throughout the entire story, the underlying theme of "actions have consequences" is very prevalent. People are very quick to side with Joel, understandably, as he's the main character in the first game. However, his ending wasn't the focus of this game, and Naughty Dog does an excellent job of highlighting how one's actions are viewed by others, effect others, and ultimately bring about said consequences.
This game was amazing overall, although I will say the enemy AI doesnt feel very intuitive. I can't promise that you'll love this game the way I did, and see it for what it truly was, however I do feel that people should think outside their normal way of assessing things when critiquing this game. Play it and find out.
