I've watched many shark films, and though this was different because it was a plane crash, the idea was great but the way they portrayed it kinda sucked. The acting was poor and it was just a bunch of yapping. Also, I don't usually mind when these movies are somewhat unrealistic, but it doesn't take someone who has watched every National Geographic shark documentary to know that sharks can't move backward, and in one of the scenes the shark clearly moves backward. Thats one hour of my life I'll never get back.

(Warning, minor spoilers) I have watched many shark films, my favourite being Deep Blue Sea, and a lot out there are quite boring, but this had a unique great storyline and the acting was great, it showed how humans react to being in danger, and selfishness, the scene where they are trying to go out of the hole and the one girl is getting out but the other gets scared and grabs onto her making the rope fall was just perfect. I didn't bother to watch the first one, it got boring after a little while, but this one kept me interested. A few minor plot holes being my reason for only 4 stars, but overall it was pretty good.

I have watched many shark films and surprisingly enough this was my first. However, this movie is so unique and well-made that it has set the bar so high I haven't been able to find another film that can even match its greatness. There is not a dull moment in this movie, the storyline and backstory are just extraordinary, and the acting and science fiction aspects were just perfect. I remember as a little kid I walked into the living room to see my dad watching the second movie, and ever since I had thought about it, it just looked so different and interesting, truly, like no other shark movie.
