I'm halfway through S1 & personally it's been a rough watch for me. But it's just the sensitive ugly topics and issues the show is dealing head on. Life has it's fair share of drama already. I don't want to get invested in these characters and experience there part of misery too. It's just me though. It's a great show nonetheless.
