To me,this film was disappointing overall. I found it excellent up to near the end when Loach allowed a heavy and implausible sequence of smaltz a foothold. He effectively succumbed to giving the film a happy ending. This prevents it being another masterpiece. I can understand why he did it. I think his motivation was to give hope of successful assimilation of refugees - of those of a different culture. Maybe in that sense the film will do good but I fear it will never be seen by those who need to be given that message.
