If you didn't read the book you will like the show. If you read the book and want to watch the show, don't expect it to be ANYTHING like the book. Better off going into it with the expectation of watching a new show on Apple TV and nothing more.
The differences between book and show are so vast, there isn't enough room to list them all.
6:30 has a very small part in the show and is found by Elizabeth BEFORE her and Calvin are even an item. Not to mention the meaning behind his name is also completely different.
Harriet is depicted as a young black woman with two young children who is advocating for her predominantly black neighborhood against the building of a freeway. Her and her husband seem to be madly in love, which is far from how her relationship with her husband was written. Not to mention she doesn't help Elizabeth with Mad when Elizabeth starts doing the show. And obviously doesn't end up with Walter in the end. Frask does......??
There wasn't ever a bomb that 6:30 finds on set. The owner of the production company doesn't die of a heart attack, in fact that whole scene never happens in the show.
They show Calvin as a young boy in the home helping the priests make moonshine to sell it......why?!?
The ending was absolutely awful. Didn't even come close to the anticipation I had while reading it. The twist and shock effect of the book was much more grandeur then that of the show.
As much as I wanted to stop watching the show I needed to finish it to see how everything ending and to be able to write a full review knowing what fully happens.
Super disappointed in the show, but only because I read the book first. My fault for putting such high expectations on Hollywood to depict a book on screen. What was I thinking! 🤦🏻♀️😒 Silly me Hollywood is for pushing an angenda not getting the book right!
