I feel like this movie aimed to be deep and forgot to do anything else. The message was on the nose and simple. There was no other plot. You can basically take an easy guess about the gist of the plot after they introduced Tommy Lee Jone’s character and his relationship to Brad Pitt’s character. The entire space aspect felt like some grand analogy to their stained relationship. It was supposed to be some sort of metaphor for Brad Pitt’s cynicism about his father... but honestly, aside from like two short “fight” scenes and the introduction of Brad Pitt’s character, there wasn’t anything captivating about the story. Not even big name actors could make up for the watered down plot line... At the very least I still appreciate seeing some quality space scenes... I just wish the plot had a bigger mystery or twist to spice up the story.
