I'm only half way through it on Catch Up TV and my jury is already out on about how I can my head round the seemingly impenetrable focus and purpose of it.
Is it really about Man's objective for the long term exploration of space viz a viz a manned mission to Mars?? because four episodes in I've seen precious little -
Natascha McElhones' determination for a second attempt apart - of that commitment or is it more an examination of how Astronauts families will deal with the
prospect that the crew of Providence 2 shouldn't volunteer (or be selected) possibly not to return? Neither issue seems to have been really examined yet and I may
spend longer than the actual anticipated journey to Mars trying to figure it out?!!! It APPEARS to be prioritising the physcological aspect of coping with such a long
time in unregulated space rather than concentrating on the logistics of actually getting to Mars in the first place?! Episode 4 indicates that there is less than two years
until the next launch window yet it gives you the impression that particular elements of the mission are still literally on the drawing board?!! To date the "thrust" of the programme is too confusing and is it just me or is the soundtrack almost inaudible such is the difficulty of trying to understand what some members of the cast are saying?. Much more of this uncertainty and you'll certainly....."hear me scream in space"....?!!!
