An exceptionally eclectic variety of grooves and rhythms frame a backdrop for this young Brighton band’s mastery at weaving intricate patterns, using guitar, bass, drums underneath the ethereal voice of singer Chloe Spence. Elements of Tool, Zappa, Steely Dan, King Crimson suggest the 70s as the defining era of influence for Plantoid but this is music very much for the present and to these ears sounds as modern and fresh as anything bands like Black Midi and Squid are doing. A hugely promising debut album.
