The beginning was so unexpectedly violent for a children’s film and offensive comments were made about motherhood that I was thinking of walking out after 5-10 minutes. I decided to give it a little more time, like after the robot meets the gosling, hoping it would get better, but it didn’t. The fox that seemed like he was going to help the robot be a good mother was actually manipulating the robot to get his needs met and tried to eat the gosling several times. Maybe the fox improves as the movie goes on, but I wouldn’t know because I did walk out after 45 minutes or so because I was so disappointed that this movie wasn’t turning out to be a heartwarming family film that I had paid money to see. I won’t attempt to criticize what I chose to not stay and see, I certainly hope that it got better, but it just wasn’t what I expected or what I felt the trailers advertised. If you have small children, I would recommend screening this yourself before taking them to it, or just not bothering with the movie at all, if you don’t have the time or desire to screen it.
