Fact is that Venom could have been a great door for the next 7-10 years or superhero movies, if it had just stuck to it's source material. Where Deadpool and Logan laid the groundwork for the R-rated heroes movies to thrive, Venom could have opened a huge ark, and go as far as developing a new age Maximum Carnage story. They could have utilized characters such as ghost rider, and blade, the punisher or even Daredevil, that have been brushed aside. Instead, it seems like they went for the cash. Where people are starting to get tired of the same old same old, the timing was right, to go for the hard core fans that want the darker material, that needs an R-rating.
