Thank God for taping…I can watch Morning Joe every morning with my coffee here on the west coast. Joe brands himself as “just a simple Country Lawyer” (I believe Mika is a probably few levels above that) but with that in mind, I’ll just label myself as “just a retired old country biologist.” However, my long experience with the natural world has allowed me to project observations of nature onto the world of humanity. This leads me to consider the following:
I have had a number of encounters with poisonous snakes during my 65 year in the field. Most have been benign, the snake going its way and me going mine. However, on a few occasions, usually when I found them on my back yard, it was necessary to render them ineffective. This is best accomplished by cutting off their head. The body continues to writhe and rattle but as the head with the fangs is gone the body finally becomes inert.
In observing our political dilemma, I find it is time (well past time) to “cut off the head” and let the body writhe and harmlessly strike out for a while before it finally becomes inert. Sometimes drastic measures are necessary to best solve a problem.
