A movie that has been done before (cube) but with different puzzles and intriguing concepts. Overall I thought it was a good solid movie and with a 9million dollar budget you can't really complain about the end results. Acting was pretty decent as well... usually that 9million is blown on a seasoned actor alone. Apparently there is a sequel coming out in 2020 so will be interested in seeing that... But here's the thing with bringing out another so quickly, it can lose its suspense and entertainment if they just repeat the same concept, they will have to do some clever writing to change up the plot... last thing you really want is another 2 hours of them shift rooms and solving challenges to survive. This is why sequels are hard! Needs to be different but still entertaining while keeping the edge of the seat suspense. If you haven't seen it... it isn't a bad film if you like that type of genre.

For a low budget movie it was decent, the concept and storyline is intriguing although it was predictable. It was a kind of empty feeling towards the end as in the "new world" basically the start of the end for human life. The acting from the 2 main actors was well done, the rest was a mediocre performance. But again with a 1.8 million dollar budget you can't expect too much. If you are a fan of Science Fiction especially with robots you will probably like the film.

It was barely interesting to watch the whole film... definitely a out there Sci Fi movie with no real beginning or ending. So it really didn't feel like it had a story! If there was a bit more of a story to how, why and when they arrived and then what happens to them then that would have been a good start. The only part I liked is when a scientist found a way to communicate with them, if they built of that a bit more that would have been good. And finally we kinda need an ending of some sort even if it has a twist or something. Some guy stripping off into his jocks during a zoom chat... walking up stairs, to walk inside the "door" and some weird dude (Alien?) on the zoom chat that looks like he's on acid encouraging him to do so, is not really a good ending. So the plot of the movie is a million or so alien things called doors appear and people willing walk inside them knowing most never come out, and then lose their minds on the other side. I assume that some of these alien impersonators on the other side of the door make there way out (not really explained well) and well that's pretty much it. That's your story 🤔 Pros: sound production is pretty good. concept is different and had potential. Graphics are decent for low budget. Cons: Storyline feels really bland not real start or ending. No real emotional attachment to characters as it seems like a bunch of mini stories and new characters.

It's an interesting take on an alien / ufo movie. It was entertaining in parts and boring in others and I was somewhat wondering the connection to the chimp going nuts and this alien, was a bit too random and offered no connection really. They also seemed more concerned about trying to film it, than figuring out how to stop it / destroy it. After all it was sucking up people and chewing them up like skittles. About mid way through you think you catch a glimpse of the alien life form and then realise that it's just a few kids messing around... and have to say although you see more of the ufo 🛸 you never actually see the thing inside it if there is one. Which for me was a little bit of a disappointment. My conclusion is, it's worth a watch and it was somewhat interesting. But not something I would re-watch again, it's really a once only kinda film.

It was ok for a budget film. But i think it could have been done a bit better! The dodgy female cop and her brother just come across like the dumbest people in this movie. Rayburn just continued to fail up until the end... I mean he gets shot with a arrow in the chest, gets bashed within an inch of his life, gets shot by the dumb officer and then gets patched up by the doctor that was trying to kill him. And apparently still trying to work it all out. I mean most people would not be looking for the killer let along walking around after being stabbed with an arrow, bashed and shot in the stomach. It just doesn't sound right especially when he has the strength to charge at him and knock him to the ground and punch his face till he's nearly knocked out. And out of all this we come to a conclusion that the doctor is going around cutting out voice boxes (why) in teenage girls and hunts them for sport because a:drunk driver killed his daughter, who I believe was Rayburn or am I wrong there? Not really sure about that it was sorta just glanced over. And why was he wearing a gilly suit and using a old form of spear/arrow throwing tool... Like I just don't know why a surgeon would be drawn to using that. Anyway, a very basic concept of a hunter/serial killer in the woods and trying to find out who he is, would be a good movie but this one just seemed to miss the mark in my opinion. It was decent enough to watch and keep my attention even though certain parts were just stupid. Not a movie you'd watch again!

I'm glad we saw a sequel rather than a remake. Some classics should remain untouched. This movie I feel is a really good sequel explaining more about what the shinning really is... although the shinning will forever stand as my favourite, Doctor Sleep has served it well. Although with any sequel they can blow out to a tasteless boring saga so if they do build on this, I would prefer Stephen King be involved and most importantly no quick write ups let the story evolve and grow if there is a way to do so... If not then let it be. I do feel that there is one more solid story about the entity inside the house the one pulling the strings in the back ground a demon set free from the flames and wants to gather all the shinning's. What I liked about this movie is the adaption from the old and the new and the serious nature you can to expect from the original. I liked that there was a few creepy and jump scenes but didn't make the movie all about that. The acting I thought was pretty decent didn't feel like it have a Jack Nicholson stand out, but unless i was captivated. If there was complaint it was more the fact that they developed some characters with a bit of a background that probably didn't need it as there in the end didn't really play a huge factor like Snakebite Andi and Bruce Greenwood played a fair part early on and then just disappeared. Could have shaved off 10 - 15 mins off the movie with them still in it, but not going into great detail. Well the movie is a thumbs up for me 👍🏻

Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)

I gave it 3 out 5 only because I couldn't give it 2 1/2. I'm pretty much down the middle with this movie. Margot & Ewan are the stand outs and the others just didn't really seem to hold any strength in the movie. It was a bit back and forth for at least half of the movie, and not really in a good way sorta just made me feel like... Get on with it already! Probably tried to be like Deadpool with comedy/gruesome action but the funny parts weren't all that funny (no fault of Margot probably more the script). It definitely stepped it up in the gruesome parts and the action scenes came in small waves and was alright. There was a scene that left you scratching your head (canary blows everyone away with a high pitch squeal). Sorta made you wonder why she didn't do it earlier seems like a effective superpower (maybe not a cool superpower) but anyhow it was rather confusing. There was also a CGI hyena that clearly looked CGI, but nevertheless you were hoping Harley Quinn would use the hyena to attack in fight scenes probably would have been cool (probably better than a high pitch squeal) but never happened. It was entertaining enough maybe being in the cinema gave it that feel, but watching it on my tv at home it might be less than 3 out of 5. I really wish DC looked at what marvel do well, maybe find some new fresh directors and script writers. Clearly DC don't have the sorta money Marvel have to throw into movies but still you don't need mega millions just need to find ways to work within a smaller budget better (don't need millions to throw in genuine humour either, maybe hire a couple comedians to help with the script in the humour department or something). Felt a bit like a team of girl power rangers towards then end (I'm all for empowered women) but just felt a bit corny. If you are looking for a movie to kill the time then I'd probably recommend it, but i wouldn't call it a stand out blockbuster.

I thought this was a really good movie, not sure why it took me so long to notice it. But they captured that 80's hard electronica very well. The plot and acting was pretty good, It is rather predictable, but so predictable that you start to question whether there was someone else behind it which I think was part of their intention. I've looked around to see if there would be a sequel to this and it seems that the creators wanted to leave it on that note. But personally i think they should at least attempt a plot for a sequel. I mean I'm not a fan of repeat sequels ect. But in this case i think they could make one final one with a few more twists. Summer of 94' has been thrown around and I think that sounds like a good idea... The plot could be that Mackey starts up again in a new town and Davey Armstrong who would be 25 is a new FBI agent that is put on the case to track down Mackey. But with some twists and turns throughout to keep you guessing 😜 Occasionally these lower budget gems come along so I definitely recommend this one 👍🏻
