i have the DVD of this and in my opinion,"the horse soldiers"ranks with it's director,john ford's cavalry trilogy and"the searchers"as one of ford's greats and all of these had john wayne.my late father loved it too.i first saw this on WOR ch.9 in NY in 1967 and him and i enjoyed it.it was a magnificent film based on an actual union cavalry raid and i'd recommend it to anybody who loves films about the civil war and films directed by john ford,especially those that john wayne starred in.it is great!

this film was a true epic western in every sense of the word.it was obviously done to cash in on the success of george stevens'blockbuster"giant"even though"the big country"was set in 1880s texas.i have the DVD and i've seen it on the DVD and many times before on regular TV.charlton heston worked just as well with william wyler on this as he did on"ben-hur",for which he won his oscar,gregory peck was excellent as usual and balladeer burl ives richly deserved his oscar for his role as the brutal rancher,hannassey who battled the good rancher,played by the great charles bickford for water rights for their cattle.also,carroll baker and jean simmons of"spartacus"fame were great as the 2 women who vied for peck's love.all in all,i'd recommend"the big country".but please get the DVD.it looks best on it!

i love"a fistful of dollars".it made the spaghetti western popular in the US and made clint eastwood a movie star.i have it on DVD and if anybody has'nt seen it,they would fall in love with it.the picture was different in it's time and that's one reason why it and eastwood's man with no name hit it off with american audiences in the late 60s.it's a classic!

i got the DVD recently and i was blown away by jose ferrer's performance as toulouse-lautrec and the lavish depiction of 1890s paris.one of john huston's masterworks!

today,i got a 2 DVD set of 4 randolph scott westerns,including 1950s"colt.45".i've seen it and in my opinion,it's one of the best ones scott ever did.if anybody out there has'nt seen it,get it on DVD like i did or watch it on TCM if they have it one day.you'll love it!

it's a magnificent story of WWII espionage.i've seen it many times and in my opinion,"the guns of navarone",based on the alistair maclean novel,was a great one.gregory peck,anthony quinn and david niven were great together.i love it!

this was one of the great sci-fi series ever made,irwin allen pulled out all the stops in what was one of the first ensemble series ever.the seaview was,along with the batmobile and the original enterprise,one of the all time great sf vehicles.i love it.if you've seen it,see it again,if you have'nt,experience it and you won't forget it,it's great!
