Firstly, this book approaches subjects often not discussed in children's literature. The concept led M. Ellery and her illustrator, Clara Reschke, to resort to Kickstarter to even make it happen.
The approach to non-monogamous relationships and love, especially through Anna's eyes, is fantastic and unique, not to mention easy to understand.
Second, M. Ellery's writing is concise and extremely compelling. Ellery consolidates what can be very confusing topics into wonderful examples of the freedom, confidence, and growth that non-monogamy can provide.
Finally, Reschke's illustrations are stupendous. This book embodies the rainbow in so many ways, with beautiful character design, environments, and inclusive and dynamic moods and palettes throughout the book.
A Color Named Love brought tears to the eyes of my partner and I, and we don't even have children.
Thank you, M. Ellery and Clara Reschke for making this book happen, and we hope you make many more!
