This is a very watchable movie! SRK was at his best and the others including Kareena kept up to that gold standard. In a way I feel this was an opportunity missed as well! The film picked the greatest possible historical character of King Ashok but lost sight of many deep artistic representations that could have been possible with events such as how Chandashok became Dharmashok as he converted to Buddhism. I also believe that King Asoka had significant dealings with Greece in post-Alexander era- these could have added more class to the already classy movie. These opportunities were missed out because of the camera's fixation on Kareena's body. Kalinga battle looked realistic and the subsequent meeting of Asoka and Karuwaki and dying Arya was emotional. Devi's character was not fully developed. However, all up a very creditable movie!
