This movie forgot almost everything that was in the first one. I came with high expectations and was disappointed. Spoilers: To be specific: Banana? Really? Guy wore a whole hate of bananas in the first movie and even gave one to grug! Who then threw it on the ground. Gran was “traded” to eeps grandfather in her stories in the first movie and was a “gatherer” no “thunder sisters” there. The wig? I think I would have been okay with that had it not been gran who asked what a pet was in the first movie. Sandy even said “dada” at the end of the first movie, and the croods had different outfits and weapons and animals. Speaking of which aside from the better man farm we saw no new animals (there were a plethora to choose from instead of supersizing ones we already saw) and what happened to eeps owl-cat? Guy had basically no personality, and he was the best part of the second. They literally just took all his inventions and ideas away so that they could give “Phil” a memorable trait. Dawn and hope had personality which made the dynamic between them and ugga and eep interesting to watch. The relationship between grug and Phil was just gross and annoying, in what universe would grug end up in a tie with phil if he was allowed to use his hands??? We had a whole plot point in the first movie about grug being super strong. Phil can’t even break a twig. Eep and guys relationship was okay a points. I liked the rock and how it played multiple parts in their whole “break up” and “make up”. But honestly it could have been told a different way and been more natural. Honestly I was disappointed.
