I've been on this journey since I was 12 years old, way back in 2017 when I just started high school. I finished The Hobbit and all of Reilly's other works up to that time, so my Dad told me I was ready to embark on a new adventure, one full of danger, peril, and themes of family and love. I was hooked instantly, and these books about one man trying to save the world, got me through the trepidation and slightly less world scale catastrophe that is high school.
I'm now in year 11, a 16 year old young woman who is beginning the journey into the real world. I've been counting down the days of this release since it was announced it was coming out. I was ecstatic to join my friends Jack, Lily, Pooh Bear, Stretch, Alby, Zoe, Iolanthe, Nobody, Bertie, Horus, Easton, Sky Monster, Rufus, Aloysius and the rest of the team on their final dash for the diversion of the Omega Event.
This book is outstanding in every form. It drags you to the edge of your seat and holds you there, unable to put it down. It took me a mere week to finish it, I took it to school every day, stayed up reading it until I was too tired to continue, and spent every waking breath needing to see what happens next, reading just one more page, which quickly turned into a chapter.
I can say that I have never cried as much as I did when I read the last sentence of the story. I was in class, reading aloud to my two friends who were sitting next to me, hanging on to every word. When I reached "The End" the waterworks burst. I felt a wave of relief and sadness wash over me, and I was quickly encompassed in a group huddle, my wonderful friends all hugging me, asking what was the matter, passing me tissues and laughing happily with me when I said I had finished it.
To all of you yet to read it. Please do. you will not be disappointed.
To all of you that have read it, I'm proud to have shared your journey.
To Matthew Reilly himself. Thank you. I cannot express in words my gratitude for all of your hard work over the years. Your stories inspire me each day to do what Jack West Jr would do. What is right. What is selfless.
