McCarthy seemed to be forcing the high pitched voice of the over the top character she played in this film. It would have been okay in small doses but not the entire film with tidbits of her real voice.
I think the movie would have been much better if her character would have been more realistic. (To me and I’m sure many others, comedy is funny when it’s true or realistic). The ‘mom’ character she played was stereotypical and unnatural.
Maybe it’s my geographical location, but I have never been around a mother who acted or spoke like McCarthy did in this film in real life. It was quite off putting, since I’m a fan of hers.
There were only two funny scenes in my opinion, one during her speech for her archeology class and one in the restaurant with her friends and ex and his new fiancé.
Other than that the movie was cheesy, inappropriate, and gross.
