It wraps up the trilogy Abrams had to fix the dumpster fire Rian Johnson left behind in The Last Jedi. I was on board most of the movie until the last act. I thought the ending was hokey and cringe worthy.
The story telling lacked consistency and depth and felt scattered. I believe that in part because Kathleen Kennedy’s force feeding political agenda driven down everyone’s throats during the second film just for the sake of doing so.
But Abrams did a decent job of trying to correct that. I think what also helped is getting Lucas on board which he should have been from the beginning.
For now Disney should hold off on making a new saga and establish a new group of characters through a series and then make a new saga. Instead of using the movies to establish the characters.
