So much potential. The backstory, characters, setting, religious themes… excellent. But oh my, I found the endless glacial monologues so tiresome. And it seems the monologues became more lengthy, frequent, and syrupy as the show went on.
Frankly, I the story would have been better with two episodes worth of melodramatic speeches cut out. In fact, I feel that the heavy-handed emotional content crossed the line from heartfelt drama to shameless sentimentality. And the worst part, it really slowed the action down, which is really sad, because the underlying theme and horror story was so very excellent.
