Les Beard

A few weeks ago I watched Monkey Man with a few friends, and we all had decently high expectations about the movie. On our way out, all of us loved it. I liked it because of it’s rising action sequences and because sometimes it was funny, other times it was serious, and it made me reconsider going back to India even though it’s just a movie. My other friend, Sebastian, also loved the movie but of course, it is hard to please him, meaning to some hard critics that the movie will certainly be worth the visit. For my other friend, Riley, he adored the movie very much and loved absolutely every scene and sequence. Maybe all of them except one brief scene in the middle of the movie. But regardless, you get the point.

I watched this with me and my friends: Riley and Sebastian. On the way out of the movies, we were all letdown and a bit disappointed with the movie, despite me thinking it was going to terrify Riley based off of the trailer. I thought the first two thirds of the movie were pretty solid and enjoyable, but the last third was poorly written and executed into a messy pile of trash. Riley wasn’t so scared by the movie and laughed at the JumpScares which is something I usually don’t see from him, and he mentioned that he did however enjoy some scenes despite the low body count, as he was wishing higher. Sebastian understood multiple references to other movies, such as Coraline, and thought the JumpScares and the suspense wasn’t played out good enough, Especially near the end, and additionally he thought the characters were boring (But literally anything can be boring to him, so don’t take his word).

A while ago I watched “Megan” with my 2 friends known as The CoolBros: Riley and Sebastian. and as much as I enjoyed it, Sebastian and Riley thought poorly of the movie. Before I explain their reviews, I thought Megan was a good movie because in a quick scene, the protagonist seemed very attached to her doll to the point she didn’t want to hang out with her friends like Riley used to do when he was younger. I also enjoyed to watch the sequences when Megan was being a goofball (Yes, I bet you know what came to mind). For me, overall, if you’re looking for a movie with a few dumb but funny moments that includes a mechanical doll, “Megan” is just for you! Riley, on the other hand, didn’t like the film very much. He said the introduction took too long and the characters didn’t seem interesting enough. Additionally, he thought it was useless and (Spoiler Alert) didn’t like it that Megan killed the neighbors dog. Sebastian thought the same as Riley and additionally, hates the idea of making a Megan doll. He also thought that the sequences were ridiculous and says the movie isn’t very original, like Riley Beard thought, too. Hopefully any of these reviews are useful to you.
