Hands down one of the best movies of Sathyan sir and I'm sure, is one of the top 50 movies of all time in Malayalam. Not a single dull moment. Filled with such emotion and tight screenplay. And Johnson mash's most beautiful "vennilavo chandanamo" song (revisited and covered by singer Job Kurian). Mohanlal is irreplaceable as the titular character. We will feel every emotion that the hero goes through. That's the brilliance by which this story has been captured. Mohanlal and thilakan sir does not share a single shot in this movie, yet there is a connection that is brought out magnificently. Gone are the days of such movies. We can only hope for a time machine to relive those most glorious years in Malayalam cinema. Hats off to the entire team of Pingami.

A very simple story. Outstanding acting by the cast. Brilliantly visualized, directed and presented by the team. The background music at the end is a tear jerker everytime you'll hear it for the rest of your lifetime. (Atleast to those who relate to the idea). Movies and acting that may be long lost in time. Movie that belong to a time that proved movies are more than superstars and satellite values.

As some people call this, this movie is definitely not bad and definitely not a time killer type. It has traces of feminism everywhere which might irritate the rarely diminishing male ego nowadays. Besides this actors like Lena and Ganesh have done a fabulous job. Personally I'm not a fan of Aju's acting which can be a bit off-putting, but his presence is somewhat justified by the kind of character he is asked to portray. It's a must watch during these pandemic times as good malayalam movies are as rare as public gatherings nowadays. Yes the dialogues and stories could have been a little better structured. But we have to live with it I guess. The men in this generation might find some useful things to learn, if they even have the patience to watch.

This movie is the need of the hour.. But I hope one day our kids will watch this movie and say, "that's how the mentality of men was towards women during those days".. After watching this movie, that day doesn't look so far away.. Men and women need to realize that they can't take any relationship for granted. 'Be grateful for the people you have in your life and help them achieve their dreams too', this movie shouts out. FYI I'm not a so called 'feminist', but I think it very smartly addresses the widely discussed controversy around Kabir Singh.

A comic blockbuster in the golden era of Malayalam movies. The most noted work of directors Rafi Meccartin. The real heroes of this movie are Harishree Ashokan and Haneefikka pair, who through their outstanding comical timing threw us out of our seats with laughter. One of the best characters of Actor Dileep and actor Mohini who stole our hearts as a confused youth and young Punjabi girl respectively, without uttering a single dialogue. Also forming the backbone of the movie are characters played by Janardhanan, Lal, Thilakan and Nina Kurup among others. This movie has some decent tracks too..

One can definitely say that no director in this era have the guts to make a movie like this. This movie directed by Kamal rides on the stellar performances of Mohanlal as "Sagar Kottappuram" equally matched by the brilliant portrayal of Thehsildar "Priyadarshini" by the brilliant actor Kausalya. Notable mentions include actors Sreenivasan, Siddique and Innocent. Definitely this movie is one of a kind, and the main characters stay with you forever, thanks to the brilliant writing, screen play and acting. Also the movie has some unique tracks like "Etho nidrathan" and "Akasha Thaamara pole". Thank you team Kamal. We are forever in your debt for making our childhood so special with such brilliant movies.

Most underrated gem of a movie with just brilliant writing by Sreenivasan and direction by Kamal. The movie delivers exactly what it promises in the title, the "charming" Raavan. Only by the end of the movie, you can't help but root for the Raavan so brilliantly played by Mammootty. No mallu will ever forget the song "Vennila Chandanakinnam", beautiful lyrics by Kaithapram and divine music by Vidyasagar. I guess as many a malayali ends up outside the State, this story would be especially appealling to such audience, adding to the nostalgia of a long lost love; both beautiful and painful memories of childhood..!!

An all time classic in Malayalam cinema written by Ranjith and directed by Kamal. The story is a love-conflict theme in the backdrop of an imaginary hill station, Krishnagudi in Telangana. The male lead is portrayed by the romantic and family hero of the time Jayaram, with his impeccable comic timing, and the female protagonist being played by the ever so talented Manju Warrier, in her prime. Special mentions have to be made about the performances of Balchandra Menon, Vinaya Prasad and Biju Menon. The movie has some of the best music ever produced in Malayalam cinema with Girish Puthenchery bagging the Kerala State Award for best lyricist and the romantic tunes by Vidyasagar. I would suggest everyone regardless of colour or language to watch this movie with subtitles. You will never regret it.!! Apparently movies like these are almost extinct.!

The IMDb score is justifiable.. But I have to disagree with the critics this one time.. Maybe because I went with all the negative reviews in mind, I indeed felt the movie was a refreshing change when compared to the recent entries in Bollywood.. What's all this criticism that Aamir, Big B didn't do a good job?.. Seriously they did justice to their roles.. Maybe it's not a blockbuster the critics expected but it's definitely worth the watch.. Everywhere people are talking about cancelling tickets.. Even I myself almost did.. But I'm glad I did watch it with family... Another comparison is Aamir's performance with that of Depp's.. Really Aamir has indeed played the desi Jack Sparrow even when Johny Depp himself has forgotten how.. Story is predictable but come on!.. There have been even more brainless movies becoming cult classics in Bollywood..
