I find it interesting how polarising the reviews are.
In full disclosure, I only got to 4 episodes in, at which point my cognition was being compromised by the bombardment of utter nonsense.
I see some commentators suggesting that it requires a higher mind to appreciate the ‘narrative’ however story telling is supposed to follow an arc and not presuppose an overly intellectuel audience who are willing to entertain the screenwriter and directors self serving indulgences and sit through hours of very slow developing fragmented individual narratives with outlying issues which compound into their own melodrama very, very slowly and collapse in on themselves.
It is not nuanced, it is just terrible, down to the scenes in Afghanistan portraying goat farmers as helpful and willing to help a stranded marine, which would have ultimately led to his death should this have been discovered, I am just not willing to suspend believe to this extent.
The vernacular as stated is American centric regardless of geolocation, and also contains an unrepresentative islamophobic sentiment in blue states… just not real and further propagates the false narrative.
Bourgeois self indulgence from start to finish!
