Responsibly conceived and executed. My takeaway from this show:
* The problem is not with being a transgender, or gender fluid, it’s with accepting and respecting it as a reality. The message regarding Bubbly was clear; whoever she is and for whatever reason parents cannot abandon their parental duties (period).
** Literacy and education can be mutually exclusive. Academic certification alone does not define the level of education in a person. To be educated one requires to be willing to learn. The lead protagonist Parizaad learns grave and poignant lessons of life from an iffy and morally debatable Behroze AFTER dropping out of university.
*** We cannot wish for a clean and beautiful life without personally participating in removing the filth and ugliness around us. And yes; that will certainly require us to get our hands dirty, confront ugliness and probably get hurt by not being rewarded.
**** Naheed and majid's story hilights effectively how love is essential for a long-time relationship including marriage. However, respect is a prerequisite for love. ALSO, a workable relationship is where we take care of each other instead of just ourselves.
***** Respect is not about how people see us; its about how we see ourselves. Our validation should come from within us, and our competition should be with ourselves. This was uniquely well demonstrated by Badar Munir's character.
Pakistani plays still depend upon predicting the “happy” future after making a point about how utterly miserable life is for the have-nots of all kinds. I am deducting one star for not imparting the toughness of it for those who, unlike Parizaad, do not have a secret life of money and riches and who will have to work their way up solely depending upon conviction.
