This is an honest review. Now, is this the best thing on TV? That’s down to individual taste. For me, it’s a good show with a lot of political intrigue, not unlike Game of Thrones or Simon Scarrow's books, which are set in similar historical periods. It has a good range of cast, costumes, and the sets look great. Improvements could be made with the CGI and editing.
Now, I’m going to call out the pathetic responses from many people saying it’s historically inaccurate, especially regarding language and culture. They’re in for a shock when they find out about historical inaccuracies in movies like Gladiator 1 and 2 or classic films like Cleopatra. For God’s sake, you have Denzel Washington in Gladiator 2 speaking North American English, or an Aussie accent in Gladiator 1. Guess what? It’s fiction! It’s a TV show, not a documentary. If you want to use that argument, you have to apply it to all historical films and TV shows, even the ones you like.
