nice cdrama. however, and there is usually a however with cdramas, the issue is with the scriptwriters. the characters are overblown caricatures of chinese stereotypical achetypes and aren't real. no man is as petty as xie xiaofei. this guy is ridiculously egotistical and lacks EQ and what appears to be iQ as well. also, the way in which the x-group changes chairmen - i am pretty sure the process is illegal (as you have to declare beneficial ownership in the company, and kicking a chair out requires a motion to be voted at an agm or egm, which gives the person getting kicked out time to strategize). so its just horribly incompetent scriptwriting. i would just like to add another point - how does one go from running a global business one minute to being a pauper the next just because they lose controlling interest of the company? they still own stock, and i get that a lot of the expenses and properties are purchased in the company's name, but come on - what about the inflated salaries they would have taken for themselves over the years? have they zero foresight to plan for contingencies? how does a mypopic person run a global business? not very smart after all or maybe this is pure ego but the scriptwriters don't make these people out as totally egoistic other than xiaofei (and the idiot other son of the kewan group). so we come back to just horrible scriptwriting. rubbish show. unfortunately, it is quite watchable for its utter stupidity and interesting lessons on overblown poor human behavior and (some actual) chinese psychology.

Good show - then I realized it’s really poor writing or confused writing.The issue I have is the writers either have no concept of Christianity (because they are portraying the church, the devil, priests) as they have somehow fumbled reincarnation into the show. Maybe this is an alternate universe… it has to be because the devil is not sympathetic. And worse, he is no victim. And he also lacks awareness. Manifestly messed up.

Bad script, unbelievably bad overacting, bad logic or ridiculously illogical. Was this written by a child? The violence is gratuitous and the theatrics is beyond belief. It would've been better had they made a marvel/dc-styled superhero movie where anyone can get thrown or blasted by shrapnel and still walk away unscathed, as opposed to this truly nonsensical movie with the protagonist just making one macho (dumb) move after another like grabbing conveniently thin bridge cables and swing like Tarzan to the underside. And how can they be able to shoot so accurately from distance but miss point blank shots? Only a fool would believe this nonsense. This is 2.5hrs I will never get back. 1/10. Must be cultural… just like some Chinese children still believe that people can fly with kungfu; I suppose only children or really naïve people will believe these actions sequences to be possible. For some realism, I suggest the writers and producers watch Atomic Blonde for inspiration. The best part of the movie was the obligatory over-the-top Indian dance sequence with the voiceovers. Perhaps this is cultural, after all.

Crazy plot, crazy characters, very poor writing. Yes, there are bad people and most people exhibit good and bad sides, but the writing of the characters is just insane. Also have I mentioned the logic flaws in the plot? At the end of the series, SuRyeon and Logan compensate the “victims” with their own personal assets. Have the writers not heard of a financial instrument which is mandatory for any building owner called insurance? It’s not just poor writing, it shows a lack of understanding of the real world. And how did Joo dantae, on the run and broke, finance the purchase of the explosives and why in the world would his secretary Cho stay loyal to him when the threat to him (his mother) by Joo was no longer existent and he could have simply reported him. And the police then claimed later that they found a laptop with all the evidence of past crime. Don’t the police investigate antagonists as well as their co-conspirators or abettors? See the stupid logic? And they expect people to believe this is how life works? Yes, we shouldn’t be so serious and take everything with a pinch of salt, but the salt levels in this series is 10x that of the Dead Sea or that Pink Lake in Mali (the name of which I can’t remember - maybe I am suffering from early onset dementia from watching this stupidly poor writing). Minus 5 stars. Ok add 3 stars back for the cast (though they must be thinking what a stupid story this is themselves without voicing it), the outfits, the Jaguars (and later Audis), and all the glam blink blinks. Props to the props people. Add 2 more stars to them. Net rating zero stars.
