What a spell binding film noir. Very different from the Matt Damon film version. I'm guessing it's closer to the book which I am now inspired to read. The black and white filming enhances the connection to the chiaroscuro (the effect of light and darkness ) in Caravaggio's paintings with which Tom becomes obsessed. This is not a series to binge watch as most episodes are fascinating yet exhausting. For fans of mystery, art and Italy, this is a must see.
