This is movie of epic proportions showing the effect of one of the most shameful episodes in the history of the British Empire on people over the next 21 years.
The cinematography is beautiful, sensitively directed, with superb acting especially by the the two leads Vicky Kaushal and Shaun Scott. Both protagonists bring humanity to their performance demonstrating that "no man is a monster to himself". The plot is told as great storytellers do - slowly but gripping.
The final scenes are not for the squeamish but are brilliantly shot, acted and directed and very necessary - lest we ever forget.
I think this is a real Oscar contender.
