FIGHT BACK. I mean they just sat there and took it. SPOILER: Screw the whole “it was a trauma response” because a trauma reaction to your kid being hurt and taken is to fight back!! Man has the chance to steal the car. Man had the chance to drop kick them while they were driving. Man had the chance to run from the rocks. Complete pushovers who took it without doing a thing even when their daughter was taken. I can understand the families that came before didn’t do nothing and this was the family to fight back but they didn’t even give us that. Don’t recommend. Skip this movie in a heart beat.

Watch the first 10 minutes of the first episode and then go watch the robbery scene from the movie from 2018. Cmon Netflix, rlly?

To the people posting 5-star reviews . . . WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE??? Literal dog water of a movie. Completely unrealistic of a movie. Character progression and motivations make zero sense. Let's just snoop around like you own the house, right? Dark scary tunnel, let's explore. TL;DR - TERRIBLE, DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Slow and predictable pacing. Though I do understand the spiritual motives, the justification behind the character’s intentions to fulfill the spiritual motives was simply unclear. Spoilers The husband plays a selfish role and that is all that he ever is. It would of been nice to add more of a dynamic to his character to make him seem realistic rather than doing what he wants to get what he wants just because. He did all that just to hold on to a meager meaningless life only to repent for the rest of his life in hell. It just doesn’t make sense. The character’s are not deep enough. Nor do we get further clarification into certain character’s behaviors. Why does the wife have dietary problems? I can see if the idea is linked to her husband as a parallel of slowly dying as a person along with her marriage but it is not strong enough with dramatic meaning behind it. To top it off, the movie runs for 2 hours yet so much is left to be fulfilled. The ending did not make sense either. I do understand the spiritual meaning but from the perspective of the character himself, he just decided to sail off randomly on a boat to his demise on a wimb? Yes, evil forces are at play manipulating him, but it should be played in a way where the evil forces are manipulating him without him realizing. Thinking that his actions are of his own doing with genuine justification only to find out he was being played all along. But nope, Justine wakes up, so lets hop on a boat and set sail. He wanted to run away from his problems but at least imply the notion. There was potential for this story but it just fell flat. The script needed many more revisions and every detail needed to have a purpose. It simply did not. Either the writing was rushed or the quality of standard was simply not high enough. Which is a shame because the look of the film was much better than the writing was and I’d say the look was decent. Side note: Few continuity errors throughout the film. Just shows the quality of work and planning that went into the film. Example: Wife’s bloody hand in close up to fully clean hand when police officer inspects seen. Smh, simple mistake. Overall: Do not watch. Boring, slow, and definitely forgettable.
