My husband and I watched this engrossing movie and were mesmerized by the beauty of the of Australian landscape. We were reminded of a movie we recently watched called, True Spirit, in which a young girl sailed solo around the world and almost died. Sure enough, Robyn Davidson could easily have died had she not had her dog and the help along the way. Knowing that the movie was true made it even more captivating. We cried over her dog's death as he was everything to her in many ways. That was heartbreaking, especially when we were shown that she had to give up her dog as a young girl when her mother killed herself. Robyn's tragic childhood left her in pain and it seemed this trip was in many ways beneficial to her finding peace in herself.
