Angry Wisp – Google

Waited too long to watch this, but was surprisingly impressed. This is a great standalone movie, not just the best of these live action films. The screenplay is beautiful and moving; the sets and costumes are breathtaking. The entire cast is superb. You can tell they care about their roles, because they own them. Cinderella is gorgeous inside and out. She perfectly channels sincerity and innocence, and despite her delicate demeanor, is inwardly the strongest and bravest person in the film. The stepmom is equally perfect as a cruel, but complex villain and the prince and Cinderella have such great chemistry that you want to see them together. The decision to keep musical numbers was a smart choice here too, as we can completely immerse ourselves in the story. So much love went into this. Wish I could say the same about any of the rest of these remakes, but sadly, the ones to follow do not follow this example at all and go from just okay to downright awful for it.

Finally decided to check it out after hearing so much about it. The concept always seemed silly to me (fairy tale characters in the modern world), but thought, why not? Sadly, it was worse than I was expecting. The writing and acting were like something out of an old school cheesy soap opera, where some of the characters wear halloween costumes. The main character wore a leather jack to look tough and bada** I guess, and a lot of scenes took place at night to try to give it an edgy vibe. There is some sort of custody thing on and relationship crossovers and I don't know. Characters don't act natural and I can't blame them. To each his/her own though.

Just wow! Was not expecting a revive of the classic cartoons, nor for such a match in quality and spirit, so this was a pleasant surprise! Thought our kid was watching reruns at first, because they are that good! Great writing, animation, voice work, creativity, and genius comedic timing! You can tell this team really loves the source material as much as we do, because they could not have done a better job. Thanks for making up for the abomination that was Space Jam Legacy. After that monstrosity, we thought it was over for Looney Tunes. This series is absolutely excellent and we love it. Cannot get enough! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

****SPOILERS**** I wanted to like this. I see a lot of 5 star reviews, but I can’t help but wonder if we saw the same movie. I was hoping for something totoro-like going into it and honestly did not know this was a long running franchise until after seeing it. Maybe being familiar with that would have made it feel less forced, but this clearly was not meant for me. Animation was okay, but the story was uninspired and the characters were awful. A few things that made it cringy: 1. Movie is strangely obsessed with little boy butts. Maybe this is a culture clash, but the main character gets his pants pulled off constantly and the scenes linger on these moments an uncomfortable amount of time. There is also butt slapping, pinching, etc. it’s strange and so constant that it feels exploitative in this day and age. 2. One of the few female characters is treated with abuse and like an object. Main character drools and waggles his tongue while fantasizing about her, among other questionable gestures. This is especially creepy considering that they both appear to be around 6. What is this? Do little kids normally do this? He has no regard for her feelings or perspective at all, but pretends to be her friend and she believes him. He tricks her into a machine to force her to fall in love with him against her will. When this backfired and she fell for a different kid, I was so relieved and voted for that other kid who was genuinely sweet and cared about her. She should have cut off contact with the main character and never looked back. Unfortunately, she didn’t. 3. He is also miserable to his other friends. This same machine causes a boy to fall in love with another, against their wishes. First boy acts like a mindless robot to his own embarrassment and second is aggressively chased and grabbed by the first. I get that it’s supposed to be funny, but it’s cringy at best and would be really traumatizing in real life, so hard to not think of that. 4. Some people have described the main character as obnoxious. I would say he’s a flat out, unlikeable jerk. He cheats his way through everything. He’s selfish, lazy, stupid, and greedy. He takes no responsibility for his own actions and makes no apologies. Not sure if he eventually redeems himself, but not that I saw. Even when older, he’s still weird with this girl and even almost kills her. She acted indifferent about marrying him ( “sure, why not?” ) and even tried to call off the wedding. I don’t blame her. Even Doraemon who was sent to help him never seems to end up liking him, so not sure why I should try. The movie ended at some point. I honestly don’t know the ending. The plot focused on this idea of forcing her to ultimately marry him so he didn’t have to marry a fat woman. Cause you know, fat automatically means worthless. Who knows. Maybe the fat woman would have had some sort of actual chemistry and have been mutually interested in him. We’ll never know.

Great little movie I watched with my 5 year old. Wasn’t expecting her to like it, but she followed through the whole thing and really latched onto Belle. One scene momentarily made her cry until I reminded her that this is only pretend and no one was really hurt. Beautiful landscapes and simple, but equally beautiful story. Highly recommend as we will likely take the time to watch again and again.

Very accurate to the original story down to the dialogue delivery and minutest details. Visuals are fantastic and the spirits get better as it plays out. It brings back memories of reading this in high school and is as close as it gets to replicating the visions In your head from reading. I was surprised my 5 year old enjoyed this. Not recommended for little kids if they scare easy, but pretty cool take for anyone fascinated by ghosts! Jim Carrey could not have done better as Scrooge.

In a world of hard times, this little girl is not ready to let go of her belief in magic that’s been keeping her glued together, and it ultimately brings back a little forgotten magic for those around her. What is nice is that you can enjoy the story whether you believe in Santa or not. The interpretation is up to you. The characters are relatable and believable either way, which really helps to drive the story forward. The acting and pacing are excellent. It’s not super cheesy like most Christmas movies. Worth a watch, especially if you have a school age kid or two in your life, but even if you’re just a kid at heart still. Just love this.

Was almost afraid to see this movie after reading all the criticism online, but it wasn’t half bad. It had cute characters on a fun little adventure. The script and voice acting were good and you can tell the effort was there. I wouldn’t say it beats the first Ice Age, but what do you expect? What sequel are we even up to of a film that came out in 2002 and wasn’t exactly an Oscar winner from the start? It’s not half bad as long as you know you’re getting a silly kid’s movie that doesn’t take itself too seriously. You shouldn’t either. Lighten up people. Enjoy the free entertainment you did nothing to contribute to. Or better yet, take your kids outside to play. Life is too short.
