My wife and I ( now officially “ Senior Citizens” ) both loved it. It was light hearted and total fun. The entire cast was brilliant , I feel sure that they all enjoyed playing their part in this Danny Boyle creation.
The kindling of a romance from the ashes of a long standing plutonic relationship between Jack and Ellie was the filling in the 🥪 for me.
The fantasy element with regard to the global memory loss of the population with regard to the Beatles amongst other things like Coco Cola was a brilliantly executed concept.
There were never any dull moments in the film, how could there be when our memories of The Beatles music were reawakened throughout the film. Then there was Ed Sheeran acting his natural self; the modern day laureate of Pop who added his own endorsement of what the Beatles had achieved whilst still reminding us all of his own pedigree in the field.
The stereotypical Road Manager played by Kate McKinnon who caricatured the greed and avarice of some with relish, complimented the film. Joel Fry provides a nice side- dish of humour to it in his support of the two main players , Himesh Patel and the gorgeous Lily James.
Take the film for what it is ; light breezy, and fun. A film that never intended to take itself seriously but set out to make us feel a whole lot better about things after we had watched it.
