This movie is very carefully and subtly directed to a perfection that nearly blends science and magic “ willing suspension of disbelief” Elisa had marks of claws since she was found near a river - makes her somehow destined to be someone who has or had a close affinity to water, and exposure to something primal that left the scars on her; her origins are not known. Unlike others she is curious about anatomy - she doesn’t feel disgusted or scared by the cut fingers. It is almost as she was destined to meet a god (creature has been referred to as god in Amazon) for her true redemption, the one that frees the soul by finding the one true love irrespective of colour, language, species - it is poetry throughout and science has been diminished to a bare medium of how they met.
