This movie is wholesome without a hint of put on sentimentality...the cast is great, the script perfect, and the situation without gloss...gets very blunt about it.
My favorite scene is when Angie gets mad at her protective, loving family and storms into her room. In the small apartment, there's no door, so she slams the drape shut for privacy and effect.
Edie Adams had to work again after her husband Ernie Kovacs died in a Corsair car suddenly. She is wonderful as an exotic dancer with such a soft heart, her apartment is full of street dogs and Steve McQueen, another stray. Dog lovers would love this.
I saw this several times as a teenager in the theater...one of my very favorites.
