Another masterpiece. 11 films, 11 brilliant stories. If you like Wes Anderson films you won’t want to miss this. If you don’t care for them you’ll probably hate it. If you haven’t seen any yet, pick any of them and try ‘em on. Maybe start with the Royal Tenenbaums. Anyway, the French Dispatch is the absolute #1 genius film of his career, and Asteriod City falls back into the more quirky comedy of many of the others. Not his best, but certainly start to finish entertaining, beautiful design, eloquent dialog and star studded cast. I missed Bill Murray and feel Steve Carell’s role was written for Murray and would have been better as intended. Loved the whole thing. If you read 1 star reviews it’s clear those folks have never seen a WA film and are comparing it to Hollywood film standards rather than independent film releases. One person said they were expecting a Mars Attacks type film. Yeah…..no. Wes is brilliant and his films are unlike any other writer/director. Love or hate them, one thing that cannot be denied is the absolute and total originally of each one. We’ll done Wes, we’ll done.
