Great cast, the story is promising when you look at other success films like the Beanie Bubble, but ultimately it falls flat on its face. This seems like it’s a film for kids, it’s more along the line of Cat in the Hat or Stuart Little.
It won’t stand the test of time; people who praise it will watch it once and never again. I give you a test if you think this is a good film, invite 5 or more friends round and watch it with them, I guarantee after 40 minutes some friends will be either off into the kitchen having a conversation out there, others will ignore it entirely looking at their phone and the rest will say can we turn this off it is boring and overall terrible.
It is a shame because the cast is great, it’s maybe possibly a bit like the Expendables, there’s too many stars, so it’s hard when all of them only have 5 minutes to work with to make an impression and that then takes away from where the story is going.
Maybe Jerry will take this criticism and make changes to the next films he directs, he has the potential as Bee Movie was good although he didn’t direct that, I think he needs to sit in with a few directors on some film sets and just observe how it’s done. He has the potential to make great stuff just this one is not great.
In Jerry's words "What’s the deal with Unfrosted?" The deal is it’s terrible, adjust and learn from your mistakes and let’s make the next one a hit, that’s all you can do.
It’s your first directing debut, even Ron Howard with Grand theft auto and James Cameron with Piranha 2 as their first directing debuts fell flat on their faces, so even the best had flops to begin with.
Let’s hope the next one Jerry does raises the bar, because right now the bars a few inches, let’s make that bar into feet on the next one.
