BBC's Sherlock is quite possibly the best series I've ever viewed. The soundtrack is unforgettable, the plot leaves no room for loopholes, and the talent of the actors is incomparable. I would, however, give a word of caution on the material of the series. It is rated as TV-14 in the United States and 12+ in the UK, but I would say it really is unsuitable for people under 16. The first season entailed quite a bit of violence and heavy subjects, as well as innuendo and profanity, but really nothing you wouldn't expect from your average TV-14 show. However, the first episode of the second season contained so much explicit content it might as well have been an X-rated film. It included an entire scene during which a woman was completely naked onscreen, with strategically placed episodes barely covering sensitive areas. The sexual content was cleaned up in the following episodes, but there are also rather bloody scenes and suicides. The character of Sherlock is intentionally insensitive, but it also leads to some explicit talk in a casual tone. All in all, it's a great show, but I would not recommend it for young audiences.
