Alwayz Thinkin'

Dark, creepy, unsettling are words that come to mind. I just think it should be made clear this isn't a villain /hero movie. I would not recommend this for children. It is the sadly disturbing beginnings of the Joker. The Heath Ledger Joker was carefree and light hearted compared to how this one feels. I admit, I do not follow the comic books themselves. It is so well acted it's uncomfortable to watch. Personally I thought it moved slow but I am a sensitive person so every step of development was painful to watch. I didn't think the Joker had happy beginnings but I thought somehow there would be a distance, tragic but unreal. Fantasy. This movie is very real. If that is what you are looking for you will not be disappointed. So real it hurts. I repeat. Not a typical hero/villain movie and NOT suitable for children.

3 1/2 stars. It's worth a rental but I wouldn't buy the movie even though I'm a Jason Statham fan. (But, there is a gratuitous beefcake scene of him getting out of the shower and wearing only a towel - barely!) It is exactly what I expected from a movie about an enormous shark. In it's favor It has more than one dramatic action scene and a couple twists. I won't be a d and give spoilers. It has the predictable would-be romance, made weaker when J.S. looks old enough to be her father. They have friend chemistry at best. Good casting can make or break a movie. I think Page Kennedy was a terrible choice for his part. His acting made some scenes feel like a bad comedy. I think he seriously ruined the crucial scenes that could have given the movie some depth. Another bad call is having people pause for cute dialog when they're supposedly in great peril. Ruins the urgency as much as being chased by a killer and stopping to tie your shoe! Overall, worth a watch but if it's movie night grab an extra as a backup plan. (I hadn't planned on leaving a review but the one before mine by Bharadwaja Bidadi had so many racist and just plain stupid remarks! His review is so bad IT'S review worthy! Maybe I'll copy it to post on Facebook for a feeding frenzy!)
