The supposed chemistry between Garbo and the guy is not credible, and as the movie lines depends on it the movie as a whole fails. In the exaggerated depiction of Soviet life the movie leads one to wonder about the motives of the movie makers. The famous laugh scene is contrived, but at least brings some life to this tedious film.
