It's hard to follow how much time or years have passed between episodes. I am watching episode 48 from season 1 and I'm not sure where in the 19th century it is. In the first few episodes, I imagined it was the 1900's leading up to the fall of the Ottomans, but I was wrong. Timing is key when it comes to historical fiction.
